Ximen and Meizuo suggest Daoming Si get intimate with Shancai before Daoming Feng ruin their chances at a relationship. Daoming Feng invite Shancai to a restaurant and introduces her to He Yuanzi, whom she claims is Daoming Si's fiancee. Both Daoming Si and Yuanzi are taken aback; the engagement is entirely their parents' decision. The next day, Shancai quarrels with Daoming Si and blurts out the news of his engagement to the others. Yuanzi befriends Shancai and reveals she had fallen in love with Daoming Si at 1st sight. She goes shopping with Shancai and buys her an evening gown. Daoming Si slaps Shancai when she encourages him to get along better with Yuanzi. Meanwhile, Daoming Feng tells Huaze Lei she will help his father get out of a difficult business situation if he dates Shancai again.

Daoming Si invites Shancai to his birthday party and declares he wants to introduce her to his mother. At the cake shop, Xiaoyu suggests Shancai make special cookies for him as a gift. On the day of the party, Ximen and the others give Shancai a makeover and dress her in Daoming Zhuang's clothes, as Daoming Feng is said to be difficult to please. When Shancai notices the expensive gifts Daoming Si has received, she does not give him her cookies. Daoming Feng insists Shancai be thrown out when she accidentally pushes some cutlery off the table. When Daoming Si refuses, she makes things difficult for Shancai by asking her to perform on the piano. Shancai plays the only song she knows and leaves. Daoming Si insists on going after her and is slapped by his mother. Though hungry, Daoming Si cannot bring himself to eat the cookies that Shancai made for him. He shows them off to Huaze Lei. Shancai's mother throws Daoming Feng out of her house when the latter offers her money to persuade Shancai to leave her son.

She is irritated when she sees another student being made fun of by 4 boys (Daoming Si, Huaze Lei, Ximen and Meizuo) from influential families who name themselves F4. To her horror, even the teachers show the boys respect. At home, Shancai's parents are constantly bickering. They refuse to let her withdraw from Ying De when Daoming Si vows revenge against her for speaking up for a girl he bullies. Shancai becomes F4's target in school. Only Huaze Lei shows her sympathy. Shancai begins school at the prestigious Ying De College and is sneered at by Baihe for riding an old motorcycyle. She is irritated when she sees another student being made fun of by 4 boys (Daoming Si, Huaze Lei, Ximen and Meizuo) from influential families who name themselves F4. To her horror, even the teachers show the boys respect. At home, Shancai's parents are constantly bickering. They refuse to let her withdraw from Ying De when Daoming Si vows revenge against her for speaking up for a girl he bullies. Shancai becomes F4's target in school. Only Huaze Lei shows her sympathy. Angry with Daoming Si for threatening her, Shancai sticks a slip of paper on his forehead and challenges him.

School rules, dress codes, classes? Try telling that to the F4 and risk a beating up. The leader of F4 is a hotheaded guy named Daoming Si. Nobody dares go against him for fear of incurring his wrath, which is well known. Whoever who steps on his tail had better start packing as the bad-tempered Daoming Si obviously has a habit of letting his anger known. He does this by placing a red tag on the locker of his victim, signifying that the victim has offended the F4. What follows is a mass conspiracy of the entire school body to make the victim suffer.
Shancai unfortunately happens to be 'red-tagged' by the F4. She tries to fend off the abuses at first but very soon, the strong-willed young lady surprises herself and the F4 when she finds the strength and guts to stand up against the tyrants. Her unexpected reaction spurs Daoming Si's interest and he develops a crush on her. Shancai shows little interest but is instead drawn to another F4 member, the quiet violin player Huaze Lei.
Her attraction to Huaze Lei causes ripples in the relationship between the 2 F4 members Huaze Lei and Daoming Si. How will Shancai cope with Daoming Si's advances while letting Huaze Lei know that she fancies him?

Same Agenda

We were sitting in the crowded auditorium waiting for the program to view the performance of our seven-year-old grandson, Tanner, in his school's annual Christmas pageant.
It was difficult to say who was more excited – the children or the audience. I looked around and spotted my son and his wife, with their four-month-old baby boy, and Tanner's maternal grandparents seated several rows behind us. We acknowledged each other with a smile and a wave.
Then I saw them – Tanner's "biological" paternal grandparents. My son and Tanner's mother had dated briefly as sixteen-year-olds, split up, then became reacquainted shortly after their high-school graduation when Tanner was just six months old. Even though my daughter-in-law never married Tanner's father, his parents had fought for grandparents' rights and won. Tanner may call my son "Daddy," but Tanner is bound by court order to go every other weekend for visitation with the parents of his "biological" father.
We had taken Tanner into our hearts as our own, and we weren't very willing to share him.
This had always been a particular sore spot for me. We did not know them well, and I feared the worst when he went with them on their weekend. In retrospect, we should have viewed it as commendable that they were interested enough in Tanner to pay a lawyer and go through the complicated legal system.
So there we were, separated by a few rows of folding chairs. There were only a few instances where we had been thrown together, and each of these meetings had been uncomfortable. I saw the woman look at us, nudge her husband and whisper in his ear. He immediately looked back at us as well.
My ears were burning as if on fire. I attempted to remember why we were here – our common bond, a child that meant so much to us.
Shortly thereafter the program started, and for the next hour we were enthralled. Before we knew it, the lights were on, and we were gathering our things to leave. We followed the crowd into the hall and searched for our grandson.
We soon found him, and suddenly three sets of grandparents were thrown together, each waiting to take our turn in congratulating Tanner on a fine performance. We eyed each other and spoke a brief "hello."
Finally, it was our turn to hug Tanner and discuss his job well done. His eyes were shining brightly, and he was obviously proud to be the object of so much adoration.
I leaned down to hear what he was saying. "Grandma, I'm so lucky!" Tanner exclaimed, clapping his hands together.
"Because you did such a fine job?" I innocently asked.
"No, because all my favorite people are here! My Mom, Dad, little brother, and all my grandmas and grandpas are here together, just to see me!"
I looked up, stunned at his remark.
My eyes met those of the "other" grandma, and I could see she was feeling the same shame as I was. I was horrified at my thoughts and feelings over all these years.
What had given only me the right to love this little boy? They obviously loved him as much as we did, and he obviously loved each of us. They also no doubt had their own fears about us. How could we have been so blind?
As I looked around, I could see we were all ashamed of our previous feelings on this subject. We visited briefly, said our good-byes and went our separate ways.
I've thought a lot about our encounter since that might, and I admit I feel that a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I don't fear Tanner's weekend visits like I used to.
I discovered that we all have the same agenda – to love a little boy who truly belongs to all of us.
